am i wasting my time on him

im 25 years old, and ive been dating a guy since feb now and ive hung out at his place and e's stays the night on friday atmy apt, we havent been intimate because i dont want it to get that far if it not yet official. but i had decided to ask him if we can go to the beach this sunday and his responce was >>> " the beach !!! i dont do those kind of things , are you tryig to make me your boyfriend, are you trying to force things, are you trying to scare me away, why the beach and why sunday , those are my relax days . i was like are you serious ??? andhe's like not about that but why the beach cant we do something else on sat, i got a little hurt by what he said , now i dont know if i should keep dating himor what, was i pushing things by asking him to the beach , now i feel like im some needy person. but i hardly call him or ask to see him he's the one always calling me on thursaday to see meon fri. what do i do?

What kind of a dating relationship is this? I don't get it. I am sorry, but if you're dating aren't you supposed to be going places? What is so different about going to the beach instead of any other place you both go out to?
