being ignore in a group of people

I need help!
When I with a group of people, with colleagues or in a party etc, people always ignore me or don't talk to me and don't want to listen to me. Even I tried to be friendly, talked to people first, smile and showed sense of humor.
Even people around me always implied or said that I am very pretty and smart, have sense of humor.
I usually dress as other people dress, pretty normal. I don't understand when I was with one person together we talked very well. But when I with a group of people, they changed the attitude to me, didn’t listen to me and pretended that I didn’t exist and they didn’t respect me.
I am not sure because I am short - 5 feet or not attractive.
I feel very lonely and lack of confidence in relationship.
Please help!

You know it could be the other way around? People could ignore you at a party because maybe your beautiful and witty and they themselves like to have attention drawn to them?

thanks ayngel, did you mean I should not showed I know many things.
They think I am smart make them don't feel good about themself?
