Okay, this aint a post on relationships but I need advise. I am shyly going to start appllyin to colleges and universities real soon and my first choice college is an away college. The problem is with my parents. Even so not only are they giving me trouble to apply to an away college, but they did not prepare themselves for the expenses college brings (whether home or away). In other words, college is to paid from pocket money. I am able to get a couple of scholarships but there will still be a large sum of money to pay. Granted especially since I am set in moving away. I don't know how this is gradually going to be possible. I really want to pursue my dreams, but parents and money are in the way. I don't know too much about student loans but I just hear of people still trying to pay them off. I don't know what to do. I really want to go to this away college of my choice, but what if my parents can't absolutely afford it? In spite of should I stay here? I dread that thought, I'm not leaving to get away, but I really want to go to this college...?should I go anyways, and try to pay on my own, should I ask for aa student loan (which I don't know how that works), what should I do?
I know this might not seem as a big deal problem compared to everything else, but time is getting closer and i need to know what to do.
Thanks
Cristy

I really don't think that you have many options, but what it comes down to is what you really want to do. My parents didn't have the money to pay for my college, but I wanted to go to a University. I mean you could go to a community college and get the basics out of the way and then transfer, but you will still need money for that. I personally did get a college loan and I owe quite a substanstial amount back, but it was definately worth it. The way you go about getting a college loan is by contacting the Finicial Aid department at the school you will be attending. I also had to fill out a FASFA form which determines if you are able to get Finicial Aid and not even need a loan. The problem was that my parents made too much money for me to recieve Finicial Aid. I know I might owe a lot in student loans but the interest rate is very low and now I have a wonderful job due to the education I recieved. I mean nothing is free and sometimes you need to sacrafice to acheive something, I think that you should do what you think you can handle....... but loans aren't as scary as they seem I hope this helped!!!

If I ran a school, I'd give the average grade to the ones who gave me all the right answers, for being good parrots. I'd give the top grades to those who made a lot of mistakes and told me about them, and then told me what they learned from them.
