Me and my friend of almost two years had minor 'dealings' last summer, but there was a lot of miscommunication, and we ended up not speaking for a bit/awkward, but have managed to rebuild our friendship. Anyways he started seeing this girl in January and she's really cool, and it seems like he really likes her....
Anyways, I feel like he is still apprehensive to talk to me/have conversations with me on msn/even to show that he is going to the same events as me...it's like he's deliberately trying to seem uninterested/semi-avoid me...yet, when we're together, he's ridiculously nice, and we always have a great time/he laughs at my jokes/teases me....I'm not just imagining this....he actually feel over laughing at something I did, and he ends up flirting with me (not in a 'cheating way' though) when we drink and whatnot.
So it seems obvious he doesn't dislike me, yet he's still apprehensive around me/always tries to play it 'cool'

Is he trying to avoid having feelings for me again/looking like he does?

No, I think he just tries to keep you being interested in him while he can be interested in others. It's a self esteem thing such men got. Although he doesn't like to be with you anymore as a couple he would feel bad if you'd reject him. Some men are a bit more complicated than others, but this is in the end what this kind of behavior means.

If I were you I wouldn't hang on to fata morganas and think you'd end up together again. But that's me, not you
