Girls and their emotional side?

Alright so the girl I really like broke up with her boyfriend about 3 weeks ago and it was a pretty bad breakup. I know he did something really harsh that hurt her. I didnt ask about it cause it wouldnt be right and she seems to be really be emotionally upset about it. Whatever it was it was all his fault though. She said after this incident she isnt to fond of guys. So my question is are girls usually pretty upset after bad breakups like this? I want to ask her out on a date but would that be a bad idea considering what happened? Are girls leary about dating activity after things like that happened to them?

As it seems to have been very hurtful I would not advise you to ask her out on a date right now but give her time to heal.

I think he cheated on her. I have given her over 3 weeks to heal from this. im just not sure if that is enough time.
