I have been married for 35 years. One year ago I discovered that he had a hoard of money. £17000. He said he had no reason. It was just something he had always done. I was gutted. I'm not a spender. Don't gamble. Would let him buy anything he wanted. He doesn't work. I do. I would be gratefull for any suggestions why he would do this.

He probably feels safer to have money secretly.

He probably needs security. I am married to a man who spends regardless of needs. I love him dearly but the fact that we are in constant money struggle and I am the only one who makes an attempt to save, kills this relationship. I would love my husband to have an emergency fund without my knowledge.
If you don't want to work, talk to him and make some arrangements. Talk to him without blaming him.Be appreciative.
